Operation Homefront Care Package Donation Drive

Starting October 21st, Central Elementary Student Council will be conducting a care package donation drive for service members. Students will bring in items for care packages.

We will begin taking items at the Fall Festival this Friday t
he 21st. Anyone who brings items to the Fall Festival will get a gift from Operation Homefront, an organization that provides assistance to families and wounded service members.

The class that collects the most items during the entire drive will also receive prizes.

Collection will run from October 21st to October 28th.

Some items that can be donated are:
Personal hygiene items (no aerosol cans)
Letters and “Thank You” cards
Toys (travel games, decks of cards, puzzles)
Comic books

News from Central Wildcat Pride - September 6th Meeting

Room Parents - Teachers will be in charge of getting and working with their room parents. Party Dates will be set soon and we will get those out! Please contact me if you need a phone number or email for someone.

Walk-A-Thon - Looking at October 6th or 13th. A planning meeting will be held September 13th at 7:00 PM in Central’s Cafeteria. Interested in helping: Tyann Marcink, Beth Reed, Ben and Dawn Butler, Phil and Karen Hamilton, Jennifer Phelps, Dotty Harker, Angie Wilson, Ann Marie Hoerr.

Funds from the Walk-A-Thon will assist with the following:

• $5.00 per student to grade levels to help with fieldtrips.


• Teachers are given 125.00 to use in their classrooms.


• Special area teachers receive $200.00.


• Building technology and playground equipment are also purchased with these funds.

Movie Night – We are going to move Movie Night to January

Fall Festival – October 21st from 6 pm to 8 pm. Planning will be Donnie Schuttenberg, Ben and Dawn Butler, Angie Wilson.

Angel Tree - Michelle Prewitt, Lisa Braun, Alicia Ruessing, Dotty Harker, Angi Wilson.

Holiday Boutique – scheduled for December 15th with December 19th as make-up day. Planning will be Valerie Howland, Amanda Bequette, Angi Wilson, Phil and Karen Hamilton.

We are adding Donuts with Santa this year! Scheduled for December 3rd. People interested in planning: Angi Wilson, Jennifer Phelps, Ann Marie Hoerr, Phil and Karen Hamilton.

We will look at 2nd semester activities as we get closer to that time.

Communication - We will send an agenda email before meeting and notes from the meeting after they are done. They are also posted on Facebook.

Goals!
All activates need to be for families - cheap, if not free.

Dates for meeting are the first Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm in the cafeteria. Our next regular meeting is schedule for Oct. 4th.

Angel tree dates-

I wanted to give you an update on the Giving Tree (Angel Tree) that Lisa Braun and I do every year. Both Lisa and I have daughters that dance on Tuesday evenings that conflict with CWP meetings. As of right now I have already made contact with Social Services and they are getting the ball rolling. Since we are doing the Giving Tree (Angel Tree) at Central and Clark Vitt we wanted to run some dates by you. We were looking at November 16 and November 17 for the students to choose their angels and then December 1 and December 2 for the students to return their gifts. These dates are around the dates we chose last year and they seemed to work well.

PICTURE DAY!

PICTURE DAY IS TOMORROW!! September 9th!

Parents if you are dropping off your child and they are eating breakfast here at school, could you please have them here by 7:30 so they have enough time to eat and be in class by 7:50.

Last Night’s CWP meeting:

They will be giving $5.00 per child to each grade level to help offset the cost of field trips.

Family Movie Night is scheduled for this Friday night rain or shine. If it does rain we will move it into the gym.

The Fall Festival is on track for October 22nd.

Soccer Goals - Mr. Fennessey is working with a few people to make some soccer goals for the upper playground. He asked if the CWP could help with any cost in this project.

The next CWP meeting is October 5th at 6:00 PM.

Fall Festival was a Huge Hit!

The weather was almost as frightful as some costumes, but the verdict was in before the evening was over...

"I love, love, love it!" commented one little boy, breathless from running.

"This is just awesome!" shouted a little girl on the fly between activities.

Mists of rain and just plain cold didn't keep away our Central Elementary families. Well over 500 parents, children, and family converged upon the school grounds for an evening of fantastic fun.

Circus Tickets Winner and Movie Night Success!

For an attendance prize at the Movie Night, the Kiwanis gave the CWP 4 tickets to the circus! Gavin Mendez, Kindergarten, won the prize. Yeah, Gavin! Also in the picture is Mrs. Griefe, teacher and Kiwanis member, and Tyann Marcink and Valerie Howland, CWP supporters.

Don't forget to order your circus tickets with the order form that came home with your student last Friday - for every ticket that sells through the school, the CWP receives $1 to use towards the fun family activites that we're planning for this year!

We had an awesome turnout at Movie Night last Friday! Thank you to all the families who attended. And special thanks to Traci Canby and her crew for organizing the event, as well as our sponsors Pepsi, 7up, Great 8 Cinema, and McDonald's of Union.

Everyone had a wonderful time, every bit of popcorn was eaten, and clean up was finished in 10 minutes - wow! We look forward to possible having another Movie Night in the spring since this was such a success.

Next event is the Fall Festival, scheduled for Friday, October 23rd, at the school. We plan to have games, face painting, a cake walk, and even a teacher's pumpkin carving/decorating contest.
